A Very Special Bank Account

Imagine you had a bank account that deposited $86,400 each morning. The account carries over no balance from day to day, allows you to keep no cash balance, and every evening cancels whatever part of the amount you had failed to use during the day.

What would you do? Draw out every dollar each day!

We all have such a bank. Its name is Time. Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever time you have failed to use wisely.

It carries over no balance from day today. It allows no overdraft so you can’t borrow against yourself or use more time than you have.

Each day, the account starts fresh. Each night, it destroys an unused time. If you fail to use the day’s deposits, it’s your loss and you can’t appeal to get it back. There is never any borrowing time. You can’t take a loan out on your time or against someone else’s. The time you have is the time you have and that is that.

Time management is yours to decide how you spend the time, just as with money you decide how you spend the money. It is never the case of us not having enough time to do things, but the case of whether we want to do them and where they fall in our priorities.

This is the best time to learn new things, to do new things, this time will never gonna come back. Education is free and very economical in this era. So, why not utilize it. We always complain we don’t have time, if we would have time we would have done this we would have done that etc. but are we really doing it? Are we really utilizing our time? We can learn some instruments, we can take some design classes we can take some marketing classes, leadership classes, anything, there are so many options available. If it is not motivating you enough just think about your profile do you not want to make your profile strong? Do you not want to get more knowledge? This is the best time to do new things, this time will never gonna come back just start with one thing complete t and trust when you will have that feeling of accomplishment you will really feel great. Just do it.

Role of Chaos in the Appraisal

Have you ever thought about, How a negligible error can create a big difference in the overall result? How can the unavailability of a nail make a king lose his kingdom? How can low morale collapse in society? How does an uncomfortable pillow make the team lose the world cup?

Above all, questions may sound bizarre, but let me clear all your doubts.

Let me take you to the world of CHAOS, where we will get all our answers. We know Mathematics is the only subject where No Solution or Not Defined can also be an answer. And when this no solution or not defined is an answer, it creates CHAOS, which leads to our answers. For this, we have to understand the CHAOS theory.

Let me explain to you what CHAOS theory is in Layman’s terms.CHAOS theory states that in an irregular pattern or chaotic complex system, there exists constant feedback loop, repetition, or self-similarity, which makes that system regular or the same as other systems that can be studied.

Now you must be confused about what link it has with the nail and kingdom lost and all the above questions which I have asked, right? See,

“For want of a nail, the shoe was lost;

For want of a shoe, the horse was lost;

For want of a horse, the rider was lost;

For want of a rider, the  battle was lost;

For want of a battle, the kingdom was lost.”

In simple terms, Unavailability of a nail makes the shoe incomplete, and it can’t be used, so it was lost, when the shoe was lost, the horse was not unable to ride, so the horse was lost. When a horse was lost, a rider was not able to ride on it, so the rider was lost. When the rider was lost, he was not ready to go to war, so the battle was lost. And when the battle was lost, King lost his kingdom.

You saw how a small nail could make the King lose his kingdom. Now let me explain it with one more example.

Let’s imagine; there’s low morale in the citizens of a country. This low morale will bring a recession, this recession will further create a revolution within a nation, and this revolution will lead to a complete collapse of society.

Let’s take one more example;

Before the final match, the team was resting, but the pillow was uncomfortable, which led to inadequate night sleep. Because of bad night sleep, players performed poorly the next day, and due to poor performance, they lost the final.

How can we see this theory in real life?

As a person, an extra 10-minute sleep in the morning will make you skip your breakfast. Lack of breakfast will not give you energy and which in turn will spoil your mood. Because of this, you will not be able to focus on your work, which will lead to the downfall of your performance, and so will reflect in your appraisal and will ultimately affect your earnings and lifestyle.

We have so many examples around us, and we neglect them many times. We make errors which we think are minuscule, but it can bring a drastic change in the final result. As an organization, we should never ignore the low morale within even one employee. You never know when it can create a significant hiatus within an organization.

“Always believe in CHAOS.”

JOYFUL or MISERABLE

What if I give you two options to choose from-

  1. Be Joyful, or
  2. Be miserable

What will you choose? I hope everyone will choose Joyful right? Who wants to be miserable and ruin their mood and day.

Let me tell you a story that will give you the mantra to be successful and joyful in your life.

Once there was a saint in Rome lying on his deathbed. So, There was a culture in Rome that whenever any person lies on his deathbed his/her disciples surround him/her to receive the last word of wisdom. So people were surrounding that saint and they asked him “Master, How were you so joyful in your whole life?”.

Master smiled and told them “Every day when I wake up in the morning I ask myself a question “ Today, do I want to be joyful or miserable?” So, I choose Joyful every time and the whole day I am what I chose in the morning.

Here’s a key takeaway. When you wake up in the morning just ask this question to yourself and you have to answer Joyful.and as in my last mail, I have already told you “It takes 21 days to form a habit and 90 days to become a lifestyle”. So, just try this mantra daily and I am sure you will see a good change in your life and your lifestyle. and I am already using this mantra from the last 3 years and I saw positive effects in my life so just give it a try.

WINNERS CREATE HISTORY

New year, New Month, New Week, New Day. So Why not a new habit?

Habit is what makes our life our character. We always make a new resolution each year, but most of the time, we fail after days or after months. Did you ever think about why we fail in our decision even after trying so hard for it?

Two main reasons why we fail to do so are-

  1. We force ourselves to change our habits completely.
  2. We lose motivation in between.

“It takes 21 days to form a habit and 90 days to become a lifestyle.”

We have read this quote everywhere, but sometimes things can be deceptive and vary from person to person.

I used to smoke daily around 5-6 cigarettes, and at one time, I was smoking a packet of cigarettes daily, and I was not proud of it. But it was my habit. I tried so much to quit. I resolved every year to quit smoking but was not able to. I was forcing myself beyond my limits because of which I was losing my motivation.

It’s been two months now since I have last smoked a cigarette, and to be honest, I didn’t use any other supplements to quit it. How did I do so?

The critical point is habit change and small wins.

 The first day when I quit smoking, I installed an app to track my progress. Whenever I felt any urge to smoke, I tried to read something or acquire my mind with some other activities. I was not forcing myself. The second day, I felt an urge to smoke just one cigarette. But as soon as I felt a call, I opened my tracking app and saw the number of days in which I have not smoked. There were only two days on the app, but those two days were the days where I have not touched even a single cigarette, and that was a small win for me, and that small win motivated me and changed my habit that converts my little success to a big win.

So why not you try this to get rid of the habits you feel the need for change.

Just look for small wins and effort to achieve that win, that win will change your habit, and that habit change will surely bring a big success in your life.

Real Education? A Letter to modern educationist

“Real education enhances the dignity of a human being & increase his or her self respect. If only the real sense of education could be realized by each individual and carried forward in every field of human activity, the world would be so much a better place to live in” – APJ Abdul Kalam Sir.

Do we get a real education in this modern era? The education system developed in the industrial age yet persists. Technology is changing day by day; we are talking about the 5G revolution, mobile has become thinner and smaller, television has become like a sheet of paper but what about the education system which is a basic need of every young Indian.

We aspire to be a superpower and are talking about a $5 trillion economy but why can’t we give our children the education which will be beneficial in their lives instead of the old mug-up style of education. Practical knowledge needs to find its rightful place in the curriculum. We are amongst the top 3 countries who produce a large number of engineers and doctors every year. However, do we think that all of them or even most of them are as good as they ought to be?

Why can’t we have young entrepreneurs who can work collaboratively and inspire others to be an entrepreneur, why can’t we have storytellers who can bring change in the society just by their stories? Why can’t we have more artists, why can’t we have painters? Why can’t we be in the top 3 countries who produce the most artistic and productive students? In a recent survey, it was mention that out of all computer science graduates, 95% do not know how to code. Is this what India needs?

You went through the same education system as I did; you also sat in the same kind of classroom in which I sat. But do you really think children of this and the coming generation, who at the age of 3 know how to install games on smartphones and who turn into entrepreneurs before they turn into their teens, really need the same education system or the same classrooms as we did? Today’s generation is more independent more free to choose their careers, so why bind them with a 200-year-old education system. Why can’t we break the barriers? Why can’t we move on from the education system which our colonial masters gave us? As Mr. Shashi Tharoor has rightly said in one of his speeches in oxford before Britishers came to India our economy as a percentage of the world economy was 27% but after they left it was a meager 3%. So don’t you think it’s about time we break our old shackles?

As someone has rightly said, “Law, business, engineering are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love are what we stay alive for.”
